Get Ready For Your Winter Colorado Springs Drive

Winter is fast approaching indicated by early snowstorms, and being prepared is important!  Not only should your vehicle be up to date in its maintenance and have good tread on the tires, but you should also investigate either purchasing or building your own winter emergency kit as well.  You never know when you’ll find yourself in a situation like sliding off the road or experiencing a break down – and it’s worse when it’s snowing and cold!  Building a winter emergency kit means you’ll be prepared for whatever situation you find yourself in and will keep you safer too. 

When you put together your winter emergency kit, you can ask yourself “what would I want in case of an emergency” and go off that – or you can follow a list curated by experts.  It’s ultimately up to you to customize your priorities!  Here’s a look at just some suggestions for your kit. 

• Snow shovel 
• Snow scraper/snow brush combo tool 
• Traction mats (or sand/kitty litter) 
• Battery Boost Jumper 
• Flashlight 
• Snack foods (granola bars, jerky, dried fruit, even chocolate bars) 
• Extra clothes (i.e. gloves, hats, socks, and a hoodie) 
• A reflective blanket or a thick woolen blanket 
• Extra cell phone charger 
• Simple tool kit (include a screwdriver, wrench, pliers, and duct tape) 
• Jumper cables 
• First aid kit (your typical first aid kit will work) 
• Extra batteries 

All your choices should be zipped up tight in a durable duffle bag or large bag of some sort that can easily fit into your trunk!  Keep in mind that when winter rolls around and you’re preparing to take a drive, you can be extra prepared by taking a few precautions.  Keep a phone charger with you, keep your gas tank at least half full, and bring your vehicle in to be checked at the Jaguar Colorado Springs Service Center before any longer road trips.
